Another Sunrise

The sunset, they say. The mighty star resting for the night and rising for the day. It’s the sunrise I look forward to, we all do. The rays making known their presence, darkness beating a hasty retreat. Marking the beginning of something new, unseasoned, untouched. The beginning of something virgin.

Today I promise to keep my words  few and go straight to the point. Pardon me though if I get carried away by the feeling of jouissance. My pens just don’t seem to stop when expected to. This sunrise is blurring my vision, giving away my myopia.

It’s a hot Friday afternoon and being just a month old in med school, I feel like I should be reading all there is to read about the human body. Having Friday plans has never been my thing, just like Angel (In love…). There is no lab session scheduled for this particular afternoon and where best to find your ideal med student other than  the library cracking theories and learning lots of Latin?

I am in the library with plans of reading but I bet you know what they say about making plans. We make plans and life has a comedy show for free. That’s exactly the situation here. I end up opening my anatomy textbook and open you tube on my laptop. Not really to watch a tutorial on how the complex knee joint works, but to surf through the latest music videos. Free Eduroam Wi-Fi is provided in the library, the strongest being on 4th floor, the floor meant for human sciences studies. Whoever put the strongest Wi-Fi router on this floor meant it for; research, for studies, for assignments, but sadly ignored the fact that studying motivation is key in all that, which in this particular moment I am in lack of. But who said I can’t research by watching Ethics’ videos. I have a particular interest at the rate at which the gluteal muscles of the XY beholders in the dance seem to contract and relax at such an alarming rate. That’s medical? Okay maybe somehow related but I believe you get my point. Actually it’s related to anatomy, physiology and some biochemistry; exactly what a first year student of medicine should be doing.

Let me just ask a question, what do you do with excess internet? Not just excess, but excess and fast internet? Of course after downloading a whole series and a couple of songs, and a whole series of novels (in my case); you end up searching literally anything that comes to mind, from magic revealed, to why birds don’t have teeth and whatever else you search for.

After trying to get why a different word was added to the dictionary for a tortoise that lives in water, I end up on WordPress. In search of a good article to  keep my eyes busy then an ad pops up and after a few minutes, I have a new title to my name. I am a blogger @ Faith_daktari. Creating a blog was always at the back of my mind, never really a priority on my list of activities, my inexperience the biggest contributor. Ooh well, #NoHumanIsLimited is how I can put it best.

That was exactly one year ago and today marks the day faithdaktariblog came to existence. To be honest, writing something and not knowing whether someone will read it leave alone share it on their timelines, comment, like, is every writer’s fear but once you write the first article, the fears flies.

To you, I can only say thank you for making Faith_daktari. It’s only the beginning and you know what, I am not letting you go. Tumetoka mbali na bado hatujafika(we’ve come from far and we are yet to reach our destination). Better gear up for things will get hot in here. In the meantime, buy yourself a drink or get someone buy you a drink and let’s toast for Faith_daktari @ 1. Let’s enjoy another sunrise.
