V for Vagina

How does your vagina smell?

Let me tell you about the smell of the vagina. Vaginas have natural odours and each woman’s odour is different; a unique identity. It smells musky and fleshy down there.

The vagina is a canal made of muscles that are soft and flexible. In the streets, pussy is almost synonymous with the vagina but is generally slang that means having sex with a woman.
The muscles of the vagina are elastic; they stretch and recoil their original size. That way, the canal can accommodate w baby’s head during childbirth.
The vagina is not visible from the outside. Only the entrance to the canal as seen from the outside.

The vulva is the female external genital. It is composed of two lips, the major and minor lip. The major lip is covered in hair and the minor lips are small and hairless.
The vulva acts as a sensory tissues during sexual intercourse, guiding urine during urination and protects the internal female tract from infections.
These two main parts form like the entrance to the uterus and the rest of the female reproductive system. Their hygiene is therefore paramount.
The vagina is self cleansing and occasionally sheds its lining through the normal vaginal discharge.
The vulva, however is not self cleansing and requires to be washed. Being a very sensitive area, the wrong practice of cleaning the vulva can cause recurrent infections and irritability.
Together the vulva and vagina form the feminine V.

How to take care of your feminine V.

Hygiene practices are mainly for the vulva since the vagina is self cleansing and is easily irritated by soaps and cleansing creams.

  1. When showering or bathing, wash your vulva with warm water and mild unscented soap.
Scented soap may cause irritation and vulval itching.
  2. Wear clean and dry underwear
The key point is that the underwear should be dry. Prolonged wetness exposes the vulva to infections.
  3. Avoid feminine hygiene products, which can irritate the vulva: sanitary pads, feminine spray and deodorants, scented oils, bubble baths, bath oils, talc or powder.
  4. Avoid wearing nylon pantyhose or panty girdles. They trap heat and moisture, providing an ideal breeding environment for organisms which cause infections.
  5. The vagina cleanses itself naturally in the form of normal, vaginal discharge. Avoid using douches; these products can upset the natural balance of organisms.
A healthy, clean and well cared for Feminine V equals comfort and great confidence.
